Allie 1999 - 2015
Allie (CGC, TDI) was born in October of 1999. She was abandoned in December of 1999 as an 8-10 week old puppy tied to a picnic table in the snow at a local shelter.
Allie was known as a 'cross-over' dog. She was adopted by Joann and was initially trained the 'traditional way' until 2001 when Joann began using clicker training. They never looked back! While Allie's training didn’t rely on the clicker, she still enjoyed a fun clicker session to shape a new behavior. Ask anyone who has seen Allie shape a behavior -- she is without a doubt a pro!
Allie had quite a repertoire under her belt: Her skills included all the basics of sit, down, stay, come, heel, leave it, drop it, park it, sit pretty, wait. She also had numerous tricks in her skill set such as walk the puppy, get a snack, take a bow and dunk the ball.
Allie earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate in October of 2001 and was certified by Delta Society for all levels of Animal Assisted Activities and Pet Therapy from 2004-2008. In 2008, she earned her certification through Therapy Dogs International.
She & Joann provided the Reading Education Assistance Dog Program (R.E.A.D.) at Beavertown Elementary School in Kettering, Ohio from 2004-2008.
Allie's reliability was astounding! She routinely assisted Joann with behavior modification cases and was a pro when it came to working at a distance on her own while Joann attended to the client.
She appeared in a television commercial and several print ads before she retired from assisting with clients.
Allie passed away on March 29, 2015.
