Puppy Socialization Class
Location: Happy Paws & Claws - 55 Hillside Ct. Englewood OH 45322
Puppy Class will start on Sunday, September 15 at 11:30 am.
This puppy class is designed for puppies that are between 8 and 16 weeks of age. *Puppies must complete the class prior to 16 weeks of age. (Some exceptions are made for smaller puppies).
This is a four-week rotating puppy class that focuses on properly socializing your puppy. The vast majority of adult dog behavior is formed by 20 weeks of age. Don’t wait! This class will help you understand how to read your puppy’s body language, interpret their behaviors, shape the responses that you want to instill and identify red flags of potential issues down the road. Proper socialization is not just about exposure. It’s about the quality of the exposure for the INDIVIDUAL puppy. Each week, your puppy will have the opportunity to meet new puppies and new people and experience new objects/experiences while having fun in a safe, controlled environment.
*These classes are essential for proper puppy behavioral development. The primary socialization period is a period of time you will never get back. Puppies that do not have these types of experiences may fail to develop coping mechanisms and grow into dogs that are difficult or unable to adapt to new situations.
Each week we will also focus on typical puppy behaviors that are common such as mouthing/biting, house training, chewing and the basics of impulse control.. There will be ample time for off-leash puppy play. Registration requires four consecutive weeks of attendance.
Vaccine requirements:
Puppies may start Puppy Class:
7 days after having their first DHPP vaccine administered by a Veterinarian
Bordetella vaccine
Deworming
A DHPP booster is required every three weeks.
Puppies should be healthy and alert, free from diarrhea, vomiting, eye or nasal discharge or cough.
